OK, so tonight was Delta airlines and the launch of Rande and Scott Gerber's signature cocktails. On the airline. How is that for branding !

The company has expanded with stores world wide from New Zealand,Australia,UK, USA, Europe to Vancouver. The latter where the products are made.
I asked the effervescent Mark Constantine ,the erudite founder, over from London,how long he has been doing this. His answer was enlightening for both of us.
It then struck me and he that Mark's career was less,if little,in fact if anything to do with "product","beauty product" and all about an active and positive stance against cruelty to animals.And in the corporate environment.
I then went to meet Eco Warrior and Ethics Director for the LUSH Company Hillary Jones. A few years ago in New Zealand I had noticed a LUSH store brandishing a " Lord of the Rings" advertisement as a merchandising tie in.This seemed extremely odd to me at the time and in direct contradiction to the companies ethics. Before the words Lord of the Rings finished coming out of my mouth Hillary tuned to me and gave me a friendly lecture -
"I didn't go to see the movies and won't. I know they were given a Questionable rating by the AHA and there were problems.
I said ...
"Well,yes,I know. I was the one who initially investigated it. I bought in and was involved/cooperated with the AHA and I dealt directly with all the riders and other cast and crew..and you were correct.The AHA did award it three QUESTIONABLE ratings, and then it appears a company,called AWINZ, hired by New Line Cinema or Three Foot Six put a false disclaimer on the end of the films. I have recently been informed that the company AWINZ that issued the false disclaimer, was not a legally incorporated entity a the time and is currently under investigation,which confirms my statements,work and concerns at the time." http://www.awinz.co.nz (many articles including LA Times Feb 2001, the latter I was interviewed for)
Hillary will of course be dealing with this past issue and points out her job is to let franchise holders know of her companies positions,etiquette and protocol.

That stage was about manufacturers being kind while the testing was done.The attitude was beauty without cruelty. Then when I went to Anita Roddick
( Body Shop) we did beauty without the animal testing. But that still did not mean that testing was not happening in other ways.For example, the raw products that go into makeup .So still not entirely cruelty free.Now with LUSH I have taken it the next logical third step.
